a Moonlight
Paddle
through the eyes
of Jen
The
moonlight tour was beautiful. The moon put on quite a show, shining
behind
the clouds, illuminating their shape like some distant dream
waiting
to reveal itself. Every so often the clouds would blow past and
we
would get a glimpse of the moon or see its shape veiled slightly
behind
some wisps before it disappeared again. It was as if the moon was
flirting
with us, teasing us from behind the clouds. When we were a good
distance
from land, the wind blew up suddenly and it seemed as if we
might
get caught in a storm. But we paddled forward a bit more and when
we
turned around, we were headed upwind into choppy water. The waves
were
quite spectacular at night. Dark water making a fuss. We paddled
back
into a cove where we were sheltered from the wind and we sat
quietly
in our kayaks looking at the sky, waiting for the moon to appear.
Finally
it did. The clouds passed and the moon shone fully, reflecting
light
across the water. Everything was still. It was beautiful:
intimate
and serene, romantic and spiritual all at once.
